Individual format – students can customize the course according to their objectives and interests.
Target audience – juniors and seniors in university, graduate students, professors and professionals who want to expand their knowledge of the subject, sociologists, journalists, and gender studies academics and professionals. Structure – the course consists of 8 topics. General reading materials are available on the course page. These give a broad overview of the overall discipline and the weekly topics. Each topic comes with a reading guide, which consists of reflection questions that are designed to help students independently study the reading materials. Each topic also has a thematic forum, where students can leave their answers to each week’s questions and exchange comments with other students. The instructor will leave one response per week to the most interesting question or comment. Webinars – in addition to reading materials and forums, students may choose to participate in one or more weekly webinars dedicated to a specific topic. Each webinar is 1.5 hours and allows for an in-depth exploration of each topic, as well as gives the students an opportunity to consult directly with the instructor regarding any questions or comments that may arise during the course. The cost is $25 per webinar. To participate in a webinar, a student must fill out an electronic form on the course website, where they will be able to also state their preferred time and leave any questions they would like to discuss. A webinar will take place if a group of at least 5 students is formed. Course duration – 8 weeks. Cost – all reading materials and forums are offered FREE OF CHARGE. If in addition to these materials a student desires to participate in a webinar, the cost is $25 per one webinar. A student may purchase a full webinar package (8 webinars, one per each topic) for $100. Certificates – a student may request a certificate for each webinar they participate in. Further, a certificate of successful completion of the course will be issued if a student participates in all 8 webinars and submits responses (1-2 pages written in an essay format) to questions to at least 6 topics. Number of seats – unlimited. Requirements – students must be able to read academic literature on the subject in English. |
