Mathematical Modeling of Biological Processes

Mathematical modeling as a separate branch of applied mathematics has been around for a long time. Everyone who studied ordinary differential equations can recall problems through which we learned to find solutions to a narrow class of equations for which solutions can be found: the Malthusian growth, the logistic equation, etc. Unfortunately, solutions in the form of precise formulas can be found only for a very small number of problems.
